Pocahontas Public Library Receives Grant to Purchase New Computers

The Pocahontas County Foundation has given many grants out to non-profit organizations in Pocahontas County for betterment projects.  The Foundation receives its funding through a percentage of the state’s gross gambling tax receipts for non-gambling counties.  The grants were awarded at an awards ceremony earlier this year.  The Pocahontas Public Library was a recipient of a grant from the Pocahontas County Foundation.  The grant received was used to purchase new computers and flat screen monitors for their patrons to use for Internet access.  The library increased the number of computers for patron use to a total of 6 computers.  Northwest Communication of Havelock partnered with the library and donated their time to set-up and network all of the computers.  The computers are up and running with a Windows 7 operating system and Microsoft Office 2007 available.  The Library would like to thank the Pocahontas County Foundation and Northwest Communication for their donations to help the library improve their technology for the community.  Stop in at the Pocahontas Public Library and check us out!
