Long Range Plan

The Long Range plan has many areas included which consists of Administrative and Fiscal, Personnel, Collection Development, Programs and Services, and Public Relations.  The library plans to continue updates in all areas and provide many services to the patrons of the community and surrounding areas.  We aim to go forward with technology and the needs of the patrons in the community.  To view more details of our Long Range Plan stop at the checkout desk and ask to look at our policy manual.

Technology Plan


The vision of the Pocahontas Public Library is to provide free public access to the technology on electronic information resources on the Internet and maintain the present level of Internet connectivity.  To strive to keep pace with developing information technology so that all area residents will be insured equal access to electronic information resources. 

   Goal 1:  To provide free public access to the electronic information resources on the Internet and maintain the present level of Internet connectivity

                  *Continue to update and improve web page using PLOW, with additional links to other web sites.

    Goal 2:  To utilize technology to improve library services.

                  *assist patron to learn the basics of Internet navigation assist them in setting up e-mail accounts, help with research on-line, using data                              bases such as Ebscohost.

    Goal 3:  To educate the community in the use of information technology.

                  *annually evaluate new developments and technologies to consider if changes are feasible or affordable.

                 *Activate a technology protection measure(TPM) on all Internet computers to block pornography, obscenity and materials  harmful

                    to minors.             

                  *Upgrade computers with software when becomes available and affordable

                  *Purchase new software and license for patron-use computers from Techsoup
